Good moves first. The Feral Eves move into the temple in RaF, where they are engaged by a massive unit of imps. Though the imps gain Fire Breath, and feral elves are generally Whirling Ginsus of Death, the two units will fail to inflict significant casualties for several turns. A lord on a giant eagle flies overhead, hoping to make an attack on one of the cacodemon units next turn. He ends up getting shot to pieces by cacodemons and barons, suffering 4 wounds. The demons move away from the scouts in the backfield, though they manage to kill four fire demons who did not quite make it behind the trees.
The Elf and Centaur cavalry moves towards the near flank, hoping to wedge in the center and get into the demon back field. However, the undead swing their lancer and chariot units up to threaten the flank of the cavalry attack.
The massive skeletal infantry unit marches up towards the arch, while the minotaurs move to the far side of it to flank them. The Undead and High Elf far flank make a first engagement with their cavalry units, and a unit of pikes claims the far temple objective.

The Good cavalry charges into what was hoped to be the weak center. Unfortunately, the centaurs get counter-charged by demon knight cavalry, who tear them apart. However, the rest of the battle works as desired with the pair of Syvlan light cavalry breaking one group of hell hounds, while the Noble Cavalry (enhanced with Enchanted Weapons) kills all but a few of the second hellhound unit. The Noble Cavalry are weakly engaged by the pack of Howlers The damaged light cavalry unit pursues their hell hound unit, beginning a heroic tale of sacrifice as they chase the hellhounds to the very edge of the board while taking fire, until finally the lord succumbs on the last turn |

This is only made possible by the elementals and oriental dragons pinning down the Evil Avara demons and dragons (they have been pushed back a bit from their real location, which is directly over the centaur demon cavalry fight). Air elementals are not great against such enemies, because of their sweep-only attacks, but this was made up for by their missile immunity, which allowed the sylvan archers shoot into combat freely. Air elementals are pretty durable because of their evasion and fixed armor, so they essentially held their foes in place while the archers made the kills. |

Micah had a clever plan, that really should have worked. In the magic phase, he first cast Motivate Dead on the second cavalry unit, which allowed it to contact the flank of the High Elf cavalry. He then cast Death Howl, which had a good chance of breaking that unit immediately because his cavalry was inflicting a -10 morale penalty, while the elves only had a +4 from their own numbers. Thanks to the Elf Lord's morale of 11, Rob's roll of 5 kept them fighting. He then cast it a second time, but Rob rolled a …4. High elves got game. The High Elves break the unit to their front, but are broken in turn by the unit on their flank. They flee through the noble cavalry, which hold their morale as the skeletal cavalry hits them. |

The turn ends with the demons strongly controlling the near flank, but losing their near-center. The noble cavalry will not be able to rush forward the next turn, as they are pinned by a howler unit. The far demon knight cavalry unit is free to roam at will, supported by the skeletal lancers and chariots. The elementals are winning the air war, though only because of the clouds of arrows from sylvan bowmen. The center is brewing up into a big fight, and the far flank's first engagement was won by the skeletal cavalry, though with considerable losses.
