Armies of Arcana Mega-Battle Report Assault on the Temples! Back to main Battle Report Page
Turn 3 |
Third Turn < You are here |

The Owlbears back up, fearing to face the imps and the demon cavalry at the same time. However, the cavalry decline to attack the owlbears by themselves, and sweep behind them. The Lord on the giant eagle attacks a cacodemon unit, but is killed in the magic phase by a Fire Spray.
The Sylvan light cavalry wheels into the demon knight cavalry, expecting assistance from the centaurs nearby. However, the centaurs fear being flanked by the undead lancers, so back off to get charged on their front face. A nature mage puts Tanglefoot on the Demon Knight Cavalry, so while they will claim their second unit, they will have a hard time influencing the rest of the battle. The Undead chariots move up to support the Undead lancers, but lose one to ballista fire from the hill.
Both Sylvan Elf Archer units receive Bless spells, but the unit in the near forest has its Bless dispelled.
The Skeleton unit continues to march up under the arch, with its flank covered from a minotaur charge by a unit of ice demons. The minotaurs are protected by chariots on their flanks.
Battle is joined all across the far flank. A massive air battle surrounds the Dracolich.

The Feral Elves risk a Falling Back maneuver, fearing that the other imp unit will engage their flank. The chain demons move up to support the imps … the feral elves have a long day's work ahead of them. The tree spirits decline to get in the fight with the howlers and the noble cavalry, and the howlers in turn decline to involve the treespirits. The sylvan elf bowmen risk shooting into this combat, killing many howlers while only inflicting one wound on the Noble Cavalry. The Noble Cavalry clears out the rest of the howlers, taking only a few losses. |

The fliers keep the evil dragons and demons pinned down another turn. The Avara demons are wiped out mostly by bowfire, leaving two elementals free. The sylvan elf light cavalry unit fares little better than the centaurs did against the Demon Knight Cavalry - they are broken and only inflict a few wounds in return. However, the Tanglefoot eliminates any chance of a successful pursuit, so the Lord gets away with a few comrades. The Centaurs badly injure the pair of Greater Reapers, but are broken by the spears of the lancers. Fortunately, their Energize Dead spell was dispelled, so the casualties were not so great. The second unit of centaurs is able to rally and protect this unit's flight. |

The minotaurs charge and push back the ice demons, killing over half of them. The skeletons hope to be through the arch and into the Halfling Great Sling unit on the next turn. However, the Halfling bishops summon a forest and march it into the skeleton unit. It fails to do any damage, but it will slow their advance. The Elven Chariots attack a unit of Reapers, with both units inflicting heavy casualties. The unit of Demon Knight infantry moves up to flank the minotaurs on next turn. |

The second unit of High Elf Chariots engages the Skeletal Giants. They are counter-charged by the felll vultures. Both sides inflict heavy casualties on each other and break, with the vultures declining to pursue. The Giant Eagles engage the Dracolich and Fel Vultures, and are counter-charged by Vampires. The Dracolich is driven off broken, as are the eagles. High Elf Swordsmen move to engage the third unit of skeletal cavalry, and are counter-charged by Reapers. This combination breaks the swordsmen, who escape through the sunblade unit. The Undead cavalry unit which is engaged with the Noble Cavalry are swarmed by unicorns as well. They are completely wiped out. |
Turn 3 ends with the Demons pressing hard on the near flank, and nearly controlling the Sun Temple. However, their center is now smashed, with only the slowed demon knight cavalry left. The path to the fire demons is clear for the noble cavalry. The fleeing Hell hounds are being pursued by the lone remaining Sylvan Elf lord, and will likely be chased off the board.
The skeletal chariots are free to do some damage, but so are the air elementals who survived the Avara demons. The Skeletal lancers are smashing their way forward, but the centaurs have slowed their advance. The center is completely uncertain, though the demon knight infantry remains untouched by combat.
On the far flank, nearly all of the units that fought in the previous turn have fled or been destroyed. However, the undead have very few melee units left there, while the High Elves have several fresh melee units, including noble cavalry and unicorns.
