On to the Fifth Turn

Good moves first. The Owlbears sacrifice themselves by skirmishing to engage the demon knight cavalry, exposing their backs to the rank and file imp horde. However, this gives the feral elves one more turn to break their imp unit. A cacodemon casts Fire Shield on the demon knight cavalry, making them even scarier than they were before. The treespirits, with Strength cast on them, engage the chain demons on the flank, preventing the demons from getting a third of their attacks.

The Noble Cavalry charges the fire demons. The Demon Knight Cavalry tries to assist, but Tanglefoot causes them to just fall short of the combat. The air elementals get a near ideal matchup against the Undead chariots, as the chariots will not get their ramming attacks against the fliers. The dragons continue to be tangled up with elementals and Oriental Dragons, but this is their last turn - Sylvan bowmen kill one, and the oriental dragons will finally kill the other.

The Sunblades move to assist the centaurs. This appears to be a very good match-up for the elves, against an unsupported objective unit.

The minotaurs overrun the ice demons, killing them all and engaging the massive skeleton warrior unit. They are charged in the flank by the demon knight infantry, and from the rear by a demon lord (not modeled to scale J ) .

The Unicorns turn to engage the Undead cavalry that ran into the sunblades while pursuing the swordsmen. Vampires dive to attack the Unicorns in turn. The Noble Cavalry charges the fell vultures on the ground before they can take off. This is not even close to a fair matchup.

The owlbears will be remembered. That had to engage the demon knight unit, or else it could have charged the feral elves and caused the whole flank to collapse. The owlbears were slaughtered, and inflicted very few casualties in return. The demon armor saves were phenomenal almost the whole game.

The Sylvan bowmen in the woods fire into the feral elf/impcombat, but unfortunately kill as many feral elves as they do imps. This seems to finally wake the ferals up though, and they kill 11 more imps in melee. Both units break.

The tree spirits kill many chain demons, while suffering very few casualties. Nichole (the nature mage) and the cacodemon try very hard to kill each other, but fail. Both are left with one wound remaining

Not a great picture, but the fire demons are clearly in trouble. The demon knight cavalry could not make it into combat, so the fire demons had to fight alone. They manage to survive with 6 left, and inflict significant casualties on the Noble Cavalry in melee.

The centaurs finally manage to kill a Great Reaper on a Nightmare. The centaurs are again broken, but they have protected the space for the other unit to rally, and cannot be pursued due to the Sunblades on their flanks and rear.

The Vampires kill some unicorns, but the Undead cavalry unit loses half of its numbers. The Vampire unit is also forced to flee - vampires hate fighting unicorns.

The minotaur unit inflicts some casualties, but is broken by the weight of the demon knight unit. They flee back through the Demon Lord, freeing the skeletons to march forward on the next turn.

Things are starting to look bad for the unholy alliance. They have definitely lost the far flank, and don't appear to have the forces left to reclaim the temple. Their center is solid, but now has to maneuver around the arch (and summoned forest), and the halfings are still strong there. Worse, the oriental dragons and air elementals are now free. They are close to losing their chain demon unit, though there are still a lot of demons on that side of the table. The question is whether they will be able to get back into the main battle quick enough to turn the tide.

Good has nearly destroyed two enemy objective units.
