Thane Morgan's 28mm Undead

Back to Players' Armies

This is my current army in progress. The whole thing is made from Reaper Miniatures Dark Heaven line, because they are just awesome with the undead.

It's been a while since I checked, but I think I'm aiming for a 5000 point army, which is pretty big for 28mm. I've got 4 units painted with 6 more I know I need to do. I'm still looking for a good looking set of Zombies, though the Ghouls can easily double as Zombies in a pinch.

I've gone with a tarnished copper look for most of the metal in the army. I haven't decided how I will do the bases for the army, I'm thinking of a mix of grey stone and dead grass.

Pikes

You can really see the tarnished copper look I was going for with these.

Bowmen

Because most of the Undead army is Missile Immune, skeletal bowmen are very powerful in AoA as they can shoot into combat without fear of killing (re-killing?) their own. They also have no fear of return fire from most armies, though artillery and dragon fire can surprise them.

Skeletons with Two Weapons

These guys were so pose-able, I don't think any two are posed the same way with the same weapons.

Mummies

Mummies are nasty, nasty opponents, especially for heavily armored troops. Their disadvantage is slowness, so these are a prime unit for the "Energize Dead" spell. Reaper has many more new mummies that are more ornate than these, but I like how these turned out. The stains are on their wraps, because, you know, how do you launder the blood stains out of a mummy's wraps?

Still on the painting table:

12 Reapers

12 Skeletal Knights

12 Reaper Knights

16 Ghouls

20 Skeletal Warriors

A Ral Partha Ghost Dragon and Kaladrax the Skeletal Dragon from Reaper

a host of heroes, including Famine, Pestilence and Plague as cavalry leaders.

I also want to put together a unit of Vampires from the Reaper line.
